How many things can I do with this chocolate chip cookie recipe? The options are endless and I have so many ideas up my sleeve 🙂 Took almost the exact recipe and made it into a skillet. Starting with a COOKIE SKILLET. Because how easy is that? And delicious. It’s like the mix of cookies and a cookie cake but a cookie skillet is it’s own category. Think deep dish cookie, your friends or family, some spoons, and maybe some ice cream on top while it’s still warm. YUM! Cooked a little longer, let it cool completely, and you can cut it into slices. It’s up to you! Basically making one giant cookie. Either option is amazing & SO EASY!
-1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, room temperature
-1/2 cup cane sugar (or white sugar)
-1/4 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
-1 egg, room temperature
-1 tsp vanilla extract
-1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour, spooned & leveled (if you want it EXTRA gooey, use 1 cup flour instead!
-1/2 tsp sea salt
-1/2 tsp baking soda
-1 cups chocolate chips of choice
-maldon, flaky, or coarse sea salt (for topping)
Preheat your oven to 350F degrees. In a large mixing bowl, beat butter & sugar with a hand mixer until smooth & incorporated. Add in the eggs & vanilla extract & mix until combined. Add in the flour, salt, & baking soda. Mix until everything is well combined. Add in the chocolate chips (reserve some for topping if you’d like), and using a spatula, mix until well distributed. The batter should be thick & sticky. Coat a 6in cast iron skillet with oil or butter. Press dough into the skillet and bring it all the way to the edges. If the batter is too sticky, lightly wet your hands to help press it into the pan without sticking to you.
Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes. If you want it more gooey, lean toward the shorter time. If you’d like it a little more done, let it cook for 30 minutes. To cut into slices, let cool completely before slicing. To enjoy hot, eat it right from the skillet with a spoon and possibly a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream (or you name it)! Either way, make sure you sprinkle it with some sea salt when it comes out of the oven, this is key! Easy and absolutely delicious in every way! Enjoy!
