hi eggs, i’ve missed you👋🏻 just like my last pregnancy, i’ve had a bit of an aversion to eggs here & there. sometimes i love them & sometimes they sound gross😷 but this breakfast yesterday, HIT THE SPOT💯

what’s your first reaction when you look at this

what’s your first reaction when you look at this photo? is it “yum, i love candy” OR is it “yum, i wish i could eat candy, but i can’t let myself eat it or i’ll lose control.” (or you might just not even like it & that’s fine too) but i think your initial reaction can tell you a lot about your relationship with food🍫🍭

for years i made candy off limits (didn’t matter the time of year), because if i ate one piece, and sometimes i did, it would be over. i’d eat it until i felt sick & honestly i didn’t even enjoy it. so what was the point of that?
.
we are human & it is proven that the more we restrict, the more we crave. the saying can really apply to so many areas, but you really want what you can’t have.
.
when we restrict candy, what do we do? we think about it, crave it, want it, obsess over it, even feel a little nervous around it. like it has control over us. when we don’t restrict it, we find over time that we can even pass it up because you really aren’t in the mood for it & you know you can have it anytime.
.
but let me tell you, if you’re in place mentally where you don’t feel like it’s possible to be normal around it, i get it. it’s HARD, but freedom is possible. it was for me & it is for you!
.
i used to think i LOVED candy & now i’ve realized i really only like it. except reese’s, i really love those! that’s part of the freedom that comes with healing your relationship with food, finding the stuff you actually love rather than just thinking you love them because you’re told you shouldn’t have them. (excluding diseases, food allergies, etc of course!)
.
so i challenge you this halloween to enjoy some candy if you want some! & guess what? you don’t have to wait until tomorrow because you can have some today, the day after halloween, or any day. candy’s not going anywhere!
.
& my last thought is to not judge someone else for not their choices around candy. whether they eat it or don’t, don’t compare & don’t judge because you have no idea what they’re going through.

apple pie oatmeal for breakfast🍎 . 1/2 cup quic

apple pie oatmeal for breakfast🍎

1/2 cup quick oats
1 tsp chia seeds
1 scoop collagen peptides
1 cup almond milk
1 small apple, chopped
sprinkle of sea salt & cinnamon
topped with: maple syrup + peanut butter
.
in a small saucepan, add in oats, chia seeds, collagen, apple (you can also wait to add your apple at the end if you prefer them cold but cooking them with everything makes them soft & dreamy), almond milk, cinnamon & sea salt. bring to a boil & then cook on a lower temp and let everything thicken up! once it’s cooked to your desired thickness, pour it in a bowl, add peanut butter & maple syrup! EAT🙌🏻

this is my first time having breakfast after 6am😂 since getting pregnant, i’ve had to eat with my coffee or i’d get nauseous. today was the first day i tried to wait & reporting back all is well! not that there’s anything wrong with eating with your coffee, i just prefer to be quiet and drink my coffee & THEN take time to make my breakfast later😎 are you a coffee & breakfast person or a coffee then breakfast person?!☕️ hope you have a great sunday❤️

made the fam a batch of homemade fluffy pumpkin pancakes for breakfast🎃🥞

2 cups all-purpose flour (can sub GF or whole wheat)
1/2 cup cane sugar
2 tsp baking soda
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp sea salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 eggs
1 cup canned pure pumpkin
1 cup @siggisdairy pumpkin & spice yogurt
3/4 cup whole milk
.
to make👉🏻 in a large bowl, add the dry ingredients & whisk together. in a medium bowl, whisk the eggs and add in the rest of the wet ingredients. mix until incorporated. add the wet to the dry & stir together. cook in a heated buttered pan on medium low heat until cooked through!💯
.
i added in the @siggisdairy to give them a protein boost & the best pumpkin flavor🙌🏻 hands down one of my favorite flavors of theirs! enjoy & let me know if you try them out🥰

the best advice i got as a new mom was from my mother-in-law, she said the laundry might pile up, you may have dirty dishes in the sink, & a million things to do, but you will never regret the quality time spent with your kids & husband❤️

peanut butter chocolate rice krispies🥜🍫 one

peanut butter chocolate rice krispies🥜🍫 one of my favorite recipes i’ve made to date & it’s so simple it’s crazy! tastes like a crispy pb cup so basically ya need it😎
.
3 cups crispy rice cereal
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup raw honey
1 tsp vanilla extract
1.5 cups dark chocolate chips
1 tbsp coconut oil
.
in a small saucepan on the stove (or you can use a microwave), heat peanut butter, honey, & vanilla extract together until warm & combined. in a large bowl, pour in 3 cups rice cereal. add in the pb honey mixture & mix it together well! then press it into an 8x8 pan with parchment paper on the bottom. store in the fridge for about 30 min to cool. melt chocolate chips with coconut oil (you can use the stove or microwave) & pour on top of the bars! store in the freezer for 30 min to an hour to harden. then cut & enjoy! for storage, i keep them in the fridge!💯

note: you can use any kind of nut butter you want, i just prefer peanut. you can use any rice cereal, i used mom’s best cinnamon brown rice cereal. lastly, i prefer the dark chocolate chips for the topping (big dark chocolate fan over here!) but you could use semi-sweet, milk, whatever you prefer!🙌🏻

swiss chard, butternut squash, & chorizo soup🙌🏻 there aren’t exact measurements so i’m leaving it to your creative ability💁🏼‍♀️ here’s your challenge to go have some fun in the kitchen!💃🏼
.
there are directions though, so i promise you can’t mess up! just make it yours & it’ll be delicious i’m sure🥰 i have faith in you! i prefer a hearty, filling soup so the more insides the better in my opinion! here’s how to do it:
.
chorizo
butternut squash
onions
celery
fresh garlic
chicken broth
white beans
swiss chard
sea salt & pepper
.
first, bake the chorizo in the oven at 350 degrees until they swell up & are cooked through. then let those cool & set aside. then start on the butternut squash. peel & cube & go ahead and cook it in a big soup pot on stovetop until it starts to soften up in some olive oil & sea salt. then take it out & set aside.💁🏼‍♀️
.
in the same pot, add in olive oil, onions, celery, fresh garlic, & sea salt and pepper. let it cook down & fill the house with the yummiest fragrance. feel free to pour yourself a glass of wine (or whatever) & turn on some fun music🎶
.
next, slice the chorizo (or break apart) and add in. let it cook for a second before adding in the butternut squash. then throw in the chicken broth (or veggie broth), white beans, chopped swiss chard & salt and pepper to taste! we always test our soups while they’re cooking to see if they need more seasoning!🧂
.
let everything cook on medium high/ high heat & marinate together. the longer you leave it simmering the better the flavors will be!😌
.
served with buttered bread & parmesan AKA two of life’s greatest pleasures🧀🥖 enjoy!🍷

bagels. one of the foods i feared for so long. i looked at them & thought about how they were full carbs & calories & white flour. that they had “no nutritional value”. they were only for cheat days & i saw them as guilt, shame, & a bad food.🙅🏼‍♀️

looking at them now, i see: joy, flavor, chewiness, doughiness, comfort, energy, nourishment, excitement, & so many other things. the power of your thoughts around your food can make a big difference. with how they taste, how you feel, and how you move about your day. food should be an enhancement in your life, not an obsession or distraction🥯
